Camp Silver

Children from Camp Seagull

Camp Silver and Camp Seagull

Camp Silver
From July to September Camp Silver is a summer camp where mixed groups of 85 youngsters from orphanages, street kids and kids from needy families come for a 10 day holiday to enjoy a time of fun, sports, and drama, individual and group activities. Around 400 youngsters have visited the camp every year for the last 3 years. Due to difficulties with the Russian authorities & the deterioration of the camp during the winter months there were limited numbers of children able to attend this year. Through gifts received from Eagles Wings we were able to refurbish the staircase from the river up to the camp. Unfortunately the centre needs major work to keep it open for next summer 2006. Additional sponsorship is desperately needed to help these kids have a holiday break but more importantly much needed practical work is required to fit an unhealthy and unhygienic kitchen out with stainless steel sinks and plumbing, shelving and storage. There is water available but it needs to be pumped in from a new well near to the centre The existing facilities for water are ancient and unacceptable for kids.

Camp Seagull
Camp Seagull is a state run summer camp for local orphanages. The camp consisted of around 160 – 200 children, aged from 6 – 14years. The team visited the camp on several occasions both distributing fresh fruit & clothes from the local markets. They spent quality time with the kids motivating and encouraging them by building relationships, teaching them new games and activities & sharing stories about life in England.
