Sharon Oliver of Eagles Wings(on the left) stands with Dr Betty Langat, the Director at Kericho Hospital and Dr George Amawiti a doctor in the hospital

A dedicated team of nuses and doctors work in the busy wards
Dr Langat and Dr Amawiti (Kericho, Kenya)

In the west of Kenya in the town of Kericho, two doctors are working hard to maintain health & alleviate suffering amongst the people in the town and surrounding villages.

Kericho is a state run hospital with 250 beds which handles 100 patients a day including the poor, destitute and local prisoners.

Many patients cannot afford medical treatment or the transport to the hospital as there are no ambulances!

Some British & US government aid (the first I have ever seen!) is getting through for HIV/Aids treatment and Malaria prevention (providing free treatment and subsidised mosquito nets)

Kericho hospital practises some general surgery and will endeavour to help in emergencies and accidents.Facilities are poor with no casualty department which means much of the treatment takes place in Corridors.

In a packed TB and HIV AIDS wards (in this high risk malaria area)at peak times, four patients will share one single bed without any bed linen!

Betty & George are a shinning light as they work hard without finance & resources.Eagles Wings will be working to try and help them in the future.
