Within a mile of the high rise blocks of Kampala City lies a different story. The slum area south of the city has poor sanitation, disease and contaminated water due to the regular flooding of the wells.
Poverty, unemployment or employment at below subsistence levels breeds isolation, desperation and hopelessness. Many children are suffering from inherited HIV, malnutrition, no resources or education.
Working with our partners and friends Paul and Joyce Kinataama, fresh water has already been established into the Katwe slum and we are now working to establish health, education and skills centres under their guidance.
Our long term goal is to build a school and medical centre for the many children and a home to care for the orphans. Short term distribution of food, medicines and education materials are essential and these can be sent immediately.
