Our view is, that there is no point in starting a new project or initiative if there is one already in place.
We want to support the work that is already there in any way we can.
Liberty are a charity that have a fantastic project working in 62 villages in Southern Nigeria. Their goal is to bring clean water, education, care and medical help, and they have proven their commitment by performing 62 operations, sinking 16 wells and 2 boreholes, building 62 community centres and establishing many education facilities and orphanages. This is very similar to our work at Eagles Wings.
Much of the success of Liberty comes from their ability to facilitate professionals in many areas, to go out to Nigeria and give their time and skill to people who cannot afford such necessary treatment and help. Doctors, dentists, trauma counselors, health workers, builders and architects to name but a few, go out to these local communities to help restructure small villages and towns.
Once a project is underway, it is then left in the capable and trusted hands of a local community leader to manage and take responsibility for, and therefore, helping to sustain a self-sufficient environment.
Eagles Wings are fully supportive of the work that Liberty are achieving. We supported them through October 2007, and will be financially supporting the work in Iware, Oyo State and the 19 satellite villages in 2008. |
