Elburgon: Situated in the Central Rift Valley this town was once a thriving timber
centre with a healthy local economy and good employment in the saw mills

Elburgon, Kenya introduction

In Elburgon today, the economy has collapsed due to restrictions on timber cutting. There are 20000 people living in the town and unemployment is very high.

There are large numbers of children on the streets with desperate needs for food, medical care and the basic necessities of life. Many of the children are HIV positive and with dying parents are surviving in desperate circumstances. Our goal is to buy a working farm and enough land to establish a safe place to protect the young girls from abuse and prostitution which has often been the only way of providing food for the family. This would provide the opportunity for them to be self-sufficient and help them gain some life skills by working on the compound. We have many friends who live in Elburgon ready to work with us on this project to provide safety, protection, fresh water, food and employment for the most vulnerable.

Short term goals are to provide aid packages of food, clothing, medical equipment and drugs and a temporary accommodation centre within the community.
